Hard Knock Life

Kayden Mae took over my bed last night. She was watching Sproutlet on my laptop when she said to me, "mama, you know big kids like pancakes". I said, "really so do you want some?" She replied, "ya and some chocwat milk too pwease". She settled for a waffle but was enjoying being the queen for the night.

Packing Up

We will be moving at the end of October to a cute house in a quiet neighborhood. Its a change that has been needed for quite some time. After praying about it, God has provided a way. So we are packing. We figure if we start now, then moving day won't be so bad. Its bittersweet though. We have lived here almost 9 years and in the same neighborhood 16 years. I mean we are only moving 3 miles away but its a whole other neighborhood. ( Listen to me blubber..my blogging buddy packed up and moved to Fla.!) God is good and I know He has made the way ahead of us. I feel so blessed. :)

SDSU Band Night- Marching with the Big Boys

When Casey and I talked about the SDSU Band night last month, I don't think he really realized what an amazing event it was. HS bands from all over the county come in for the day to rehearse with the Aztec Marching band. Then during the halftime show they perform together. The excitement could be felt as they took their places to march onto the field. Casey had such an amazing time. After the game, it was the KGB sky show which was amazing as well.
If there is one thing I can say about HS Marching band..these kids work hard! Before school even started they were in band camps. They practice in class everyday and also practice Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 9:00. Every weekend is filled with performances at football games, parades and field tournaments. These kids had to actually get a sports physical clearance to participate! The funding for these events come from parents and businesses and endless fundraising as the district does not provide help for that. I am so proud of these kids and I am so looking forward to Casey's performances in the weeks to come. Next up is the Alpine Parade. Its next Sunday for those who would like to check it out!

Date Night

We had a LONG over due date night this evening! With the kids busy with their activities and working full time its tough to get away together. It was nice to sit and laugh with my honeybunny. It was Olive Garden's never ending pasta bowl for $8.95 that got us out tonight. I had the wheat linguine with meat sauce and the appetizer was stuffed mushrooms, calamari and zucchini. We brought home alot of leftovers for my madre and katy and kayden. I love date night!!

A "work" in progress

My office is being remodeled and its taking forever!! Next week I get my new carpet and then comes my new furniture :) I wish I had taken pictures of the office before..many people likened it to a baby nursery due to the decor. It had wallpaper with clouds and there were flowers and a picket fence with dragonflies and FAERIES flitting about through the scenery. Yes, I have worked with faeries for 8.5 years! So far we have painted the walls and installed the new tile floor shown here. More pics to follow as we go along.

Harvest Moon

Its times like these that I wish I had a camera with a telefoto lense. The moon looked MUCH larger than it does in this picture! Tonight there is a hint of fall in the air and I absolutely love it!! Soon we will be smelling the smoke billowing from fireplaces and we will actually have to wear hoodies/jackets. Fall is my favorite season. I love the sights, the smells and the tastes of it. Check out a better picture of our Harvest Moon : http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39317963

Friday Night Lights

I have been watching my lil man play drums since he was 8 year old. I am so amazed at what a natural he is at them. Tonight was his first performance in marching band. We all went to watch the game and be a part of his excitement. When we saw him, drumming cadences and getting the crowd pumped up our faces beamed with pride. Katy even said, "Yep, if you look up cool in the dictionary, you'll see Bubba's picture!" Many years ago I was in the marching band and its so cool to be able to have that in common with my boy. Looks like there will many more Friday Night lights in our future. Rock on little man!

My 9/11 Baby

I still cannot wrap my brain around the fact that my baby turned 4 today...Rewind back to 5 years ago..my life was in an upheaval. At the time, it seemed my life was spiraling our of control. Bad news kept coming. Then in the midst of the turmoil and heartache comes the news that I was pregnant and at first I was scared to death. I mean I already had a 14 year old and a 9 year old and yet I was terrified. I remember sitting in my room praying to God and clear as can be I heard, "you can trust me. If you do, everything will be ok". So I trusted Him. In return he gave me the most amazing gift..a daughter. She has been a healing baby. She is our joy and reminder that good can indeed come from horrible circumstances. How appropriate and fitting that she was born on 9/11.
Today we had a party for our baby and she had the best time. Our family was not complete until she came to be with us. Happy Birthday Pumpkin..mama loves you!! :)

Kaymae Faulkner, Photographer

I am always giving Kayden my digital camera to take random pictures. I really like this picture even though I have no idea what it is!! ha ha I will continue to post her pics from time to time because you never know she may be a famous photographer one day!!

Maw Maw's Mini- Me

My Mom has been taking care of my pumpkin since the day she was born. Its been a joy to watch my mom with her because I now know how she was with me when I was a little person. Boy, I was a lucky bug (still am)! Kayden is very much like her maw maw. If you watch them together you can see the similarities. We often giggle when we see Kayden mimic mom. She's like a 3 year old grandma sometimes. She literally repeats my mom some days. "You be careful Mama. you could get hurt" or "thats not nice bubba! say sorry.." or "thats berry dangerous boo boo, don't do that" are some of her favorite lines. She is gonna be 4 on saturday..can't wait to see what the next year brings for her :)
