Sea shell, sea shell by the sea shore

Today we went to one of my favorite places........Cardiff-by-the-Sea to go on a seashell hunt. Kayden found lots of tiny ones but no bigger ones could be found. She and Katy had a blast running from the incoming tide! As you you can see the tide eventually got Katy and filled her vans w/ sand and seawater. I also got to pick up my favorite salsa from my favorite restaurant. Las Olas has been my favorite since I moved here many years ago. Bobby and I found it on one of our many PCH Sunday drives. They have the BEST baja mexican food around and the view is amazing.

Thunderheads

I love the late summer when the thunder clouds build up over the mountains. I took this pick for my cloud loving buddy in Florida. In Florida the clouds are huge every day and the thunderstorms are out of this world! Every once in a while we get lucky and get a thunderstorm or too. Now those are awesome when they happen!!

Fall is almost here

I love the Fall. Its my favorite season! My Mom helped my pumpkin make a pumpkin mask. Its hard to believe that she will be 4 in just a few short weeks. She has such a blast on Halloween..wonder what she will want to be this year?

Under the weather

This weekend I was ran over by a Mac truck. Well, at least it felt like I was! All of the sudden I went from feeling great to feeling really lousy. It didn't last too long which is why I knew I had angels looking over me! I just hope I didn't pass it on to my kiddos...

Rush-Time Machine

The title of the tour could not have been more appropriate...When I was 16 I LOVED Rush. I listened to their "tapes" on my walkman every day. I sang them out loud and proud. I went to their shows, I had their tour t-shirts and every good party played their music. In art class I painted pictures of their album covers. This band along with a few others are the soundtrack of my youth. Over the last 25 years, whenever I missed home or wanted a bit of nostalgia I listened to Rush. When Casey began playing the drums when he was 8 I thought "he could be the next Neil Peart". Over the last 6 months he has been playing Rush on his drums and its so awesome that he and I have something we connect on. He is always so excited to have me hear his "new music".
Last week, my precious daughter surprised us both and bought us 2 tickets to see RUSH. When she told me I was surprised by my reaction..I looked at her w/ tears streaming down my cheeks and said, "really?". She said, "awww mama..you are such a newb!" She is such a loving girl..she knew I would have never bought those for myself. Last night was the most amazing experience. I sat there and was transported back in time..and I got to take my son with me! I screamed and sang and played air guitar and drums and I felt the presence of a girl whom I thought I had lost a long time ago. I missed her ..It was a really special time with my son. He got to see "me". When the show was over I asked him what he thought, what his favorite songs were, etc. He looked and said, "all of them, Iwant ALL of their albums!" " I am hooked!" He woke up this morning and his dad asked him about it and he said, "Yea it was awesome! I still can't hear though!" Boy better get used to it..if he's gonna be a big time rock star :) Below is a glimpse of what we saw:

Mini Pedi

Kayden loves to soak her feet at the end of the day. She enjoys the whole process..epecially the bubbles and how they tickle her toes. She's a princess for sure... :)

Mission Point

Today we went on a mission to Mission Point. We were in search of sand and sea and while doing so found this beautiful park. Kayden had so much fun! The weather was absolutely devine...70 degrees, light breeze and plenty of California sunshine.

She made friends right away and they had a blast making sand piles and playing on the "ship". Days like today really make me appreciate more how lucky we are to be living in such a beautiful place. We will definitely be returning soon to have a picnic.

Stop...Hammy Time!!

Well after much debate Katy went and bought a "hammy" for her and Kayden. They are both so excited and have been laughing at our newest addition since they got him. Our poor puppies don't know what to think of the thing! My girls are quite the animal lovers. Looks like our mini animal house is growing...dogs, fish and now hammies. Whats next?? I don't even wanna know!! ha ha

Day of Rest

While at the zoo today we found out that Sundays are indeed a day of rest in the animal kingdom, too! Why shouldn't it be? God created them. Lots of sleepy animals. I especially liked the polar bear. He looked so comfy and relaxed, sunbathing and snoring away. The koalas were all sleeping too. Crazy how they can be up in a tree and still sleep. It was naptime at the zoo and it sure looked good to me!! Then we have pumpkin! Look at her...she's resting too! Maybe there is something about a lazy Sunday! (if you call walking 5 miles uphill lazy..ha ha ha) It was a nice afternoon. I am glad God created Sundays as our day of rest. Its a time to draw closer to Him but to also focus on our families instead of the crazy world around us. Its a time to be peaceful and theres no better place to do it than among Gods creatures. "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters."--Psalms 23:2
